Our Story
With backgrounds in ultra high-end hospitality we dreamed of treating our friends and guests to the same levels of luxury, fine cuisine and service that we'd known. This spectacular setting on Waiheke Island was the perfect place to realise our vision.
Peter previously served in the Royal New Zealand Navy, then worked in computing then tourism and later spent 10 years as a superyacht captain in the US and Europe. Caroline had 25 years with Air New Zealand as international cabin crew. In 2003 they combined their complementary skills, with Caroline the stewardess and chef and Peter captain on various superyachts, working with one family for seven years.
It was during these years cruising the Mediterranean and Scandinavia that their concept of offering luxury hosted accommodation in retirement after boating took shape. And late in December 2014 their dream was finally realised when Marino Ridge opened to welcome its first guests.
Completing the welcoming party are two friendly Standard Poodles - originally Isla, who was born in 2011 but who passed tragically in mid 2017, and her nephew Fabio, born in 2014. In November 2017 2 year old Libby joined us after completing her breeding duties, so now Peter, Caroline, Fabio and Libby look forward to meeting you!
